The Abi d’Oru Hotel & Spa, standing for “golden bee” in Sardinian, has been offering 5-star relaxation and happiness in Porto Rotondo since 1963 with the unmistakable charm of traditional Sardinian hospitality. Hotel Abi d’Oru overlooks a beach of fine white sand from its privileged position over the Golfo di Marinella. The elegant landmark hotel opened in 1963 is located at 4 km from Porto Rotondo, near the Emerald Coast and at only 15 minutes from Olbia International Airport
The hotel’s typical hexagonal buildings host spacious rooms, many of which have recently been renovated. Hence: 24 Deluxe Rooms, 15 Junior Suites, 10 Family Deluxe, 4 Deluxe Suites, 4 Premium Suites and 2 Signature Suites. The majority of the rooms, including suites and junior suites, face the sea. The beach is easily accessed through the luxuriant Mediterranean garden with a natural pond and a heated swimming pool with Jacuzzi.
Four restaurants, common areas served by three bars and a modern spa opening onto the exterior complete the offering. In addition, the hotel is home to the Bee Happy Kids Club, a space reserved for entertaining our little guests. Besides, the private gardens adjacent to the beach host a natural pond, two large heated pools and a relaxation area with hydro-massage.
Accommodation
Our rooms, including 24 Deluxe Rooms, 15 Junior Suites, 10 Family Deluxe, 4 Deluxe Suites, 4 Premium Suites and 2 newly renovated Signature Suites, all enjoy views of the sea or the hotel’s gardens.
They are furnished in a Sardinian and Mediterranean style which creates a fresh atmosphere, enhanced with marble from Orosei and Samugheo rugs, and equipped with the most modern facilities.
Standard Rooms
Standard rooms are decorated in the typical Sardinian style. Cool and shaded, they have private balconies looking onto the garden or the hills that shelter the gulf from mistral winds. Varying from 25 to 30 sqm, they are equipped with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, minibar, safe, beach towels and dressing gowns.
Superior Rooms
Superior Rooms, decorated using typical Sardinian elements and colours with a contemporary twist, offer wonderful views over the Gulf of Marinella from their private balconies or, on the ground floor, from patios which provide direct beach access. They vary from 28 to 32 sqm and are equipped with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, minibar, safe, beach towels and dressing gow
Deluxe Rooms
Contemporary elegance and Sardinian tradition melt into a unique style mix in the elegantly refurbished Deluxe Rooms. Some of them feature balconies with views over the Gulf of Marinella, while others are ground floor with direct access to the beach and limited sea view.
Deluxe rooms come equipped with A/C, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, minibar, safe, beach towels and bathrobes, and measure between 28 and 32 sqm. They are outfitted with a double bed or two single beds. An optional extra bed or crib can be added in some rooms upon request.
Garden Deluxe Rooms
Contemporary elegance and Sardinian tradition melt into a unique style mix in the elegantly refurbished Garden Deluxe. These rooms are ground floor with direct access to the garden leading towards the white sandy beach. Garden Deluxe come equipped with air condition, wi-fi, satellite TV, minibar, safe, beach, towels and bathrobes and measure between 35 and 40sqm.
Junior Suites
The spacious Junior Suites, all of which have been completely renovated, offer sea views. Decorated in a Mediterranean style, using traditional local materials and tones, such as marble from Orosei and woven rugs from Samugheo, their open plan layouts vary from 45 to 60 sqm and include a bedroom and living area. Chairs and tables on the terrace are perfect for enjoying an unparalleled vista over the Gulf of Marinella.
Junior Suites are equipped with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, minibar, safe, kettle, beach towels, slippers, dressing gowns and amenity packs. Baby cot or extra bed available on request.
Family Classic
The Family Classic accommodations (about 52sqm) consist of a large bedroom with an independent bathroom and a living room with a French sofa bed (140 x 180cm) with a second bathroom with shower. The bedroom and the living room are separated by a door.
They all have a small terrace sea-side, and all have satellite TV, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, minibar, safe, beach towels and bathrobes.
Deluxe Suites
The elegant Deluxe Suites are fully renovated, sea-side and with a partial sea view. They feature a spacious bedroom, a separate living room with a dormeuse that can turn into 2 single beds and one bathroom.These suites can accomodate up to maximum 4 people. Besides, they are about 82sqm: an indoor area of 52sqm plus a nice 30sqm-patio with garden or seaside balcony.
These Deluxe Suites are finely furnished in modern style, with light colors and marble flooring from Orosei. They come equipped with A/C, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, minibar, safe, coffee machine, kettle, beach towels and bathrobes.
Premium Suites
Offering stunning sea views and totally refurbished, the Premium Suites are composed of one bedroom with en-suite bathroom and one separate living room with a dormeuse that can turn into 2 single beds. Besides, these suites are about 98sqm: an indoor area of 52sqm and a spacious outdoor terrance of 46sqm equipped with table and chairs. In total, there are 2 bathrooms and max 4 people can be accommodated.
Also, the Premium Suites are finely furnished in modern style, with wood flooring and light colors. They come equipped with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, minibar, safe, coffee machine, kettle, beach towels and bathrobes.
Signiture Suite Grazia and Eleonora
Named after Nobel prize winning Sardinian author Grazia Deledda and the judge Eleonora of Arborea, these Signature Suites cover 100sqm each. They embody a simple luxury that reflects Sardinian traditions, elegantly communicated through a careful combination of materials and furnishings. Each suite offers two bedrooms, two bathrooms in golden marble from Ulassai with a bath or shower and a living room opening onto a terrace overlooking the bay. The suites are decorated using local woods, parquet and a profusion of golden embellishments, in reference to the hotel’s name and the quality of service offered at the Abi d’Oru Hotel & Spa.
Guests in the Grazia and Eleonora Signature Suites enjoy exclusive benefits including reserved loungers and umbrellas along the waterfront, as well as mineral water and fresh fruit served regularly throughout the day. As well, here breakfast is served in a reserved area of the restaurant from a special à la carte menu.
Dining
The hotel features 3 restaurants, among which: Mediterraneo Restaurant, in the main building; and Marinella Restaurant, right on the beach and also open to external guests. Sardinian traditions available at Tzia Maria Restaurant blend with international flavours into our unique signature cuisine, keeping the excellence of the local ingredients the key.
From simple and fresh grilled meats and fish to more refined and gourmet dishes: at Abi d’Oru there’s plenty of lunch and dinner delicacies. Heavenly desserts and a well-assorted wine list complete the gastronomic offer. Our guests only have the pleasurable duty of choosing.
Mediterraneo Restaurant
Morning brings breakfasts served on a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea. Local specialties such as “papassini” and “acciuleddi” are served alongside cakes freshly baked each morning, as well as bread from ancient grains and pastries from our pastry chef. Lovers of fruit and vegetables can enjoy extracts, smoothies and freshly squeezed fruit juices, to accompany a selection of dishes prepared to order by our chefs with eggs, cold cuts and local cheeses.
At sunset, dinner awaits after a long day by the sea: the à la carte menu offers traditional Mediterranean dishes and specialities of the day, which our chefs prepare to order in the open kitchen. During the week, Chef Filippo Fondatori holds themed evenings offering you the chance to taste the specialities of typical regional cuisines.
Marinella Restaurant
Dining at Marinella means enjoying the sea and its bounties.During the day, Chef Carlo Piras offers a menu of light, quick dishes enriched with local fish specialities, grilled shellfish and fresh crudités. The atmosphere is informal, with guests dining barefoot on the sand.
The evening adds purple tones to the warm candlelight, turning Marinella – one of the few pieds dans l’eau restaurants in the Costa Smeralda – into the perfect location for a gourmet dinner on the beach.
Tzia Maria Restaurant
Dining at Tzia Maria is a real journey of discovery into the island’s rich variety of cuisine and wines. The restaurant, which opens onto the hotel gardens, offers a tasting menu featuring all the best-loved Sardinian recipes such as the famous “zuppa gallurese”, roast suckling pig,“seadas” and festive desserts, all rigorously prepared in the traditional manner. The sommelier will guide you through the wine cellar, where the island’s top labels are conserved and matured.
Bars
The hotel has three bars which serve snacks, cocktails and refreshments. The lobby bar, with its terrace overlooking the sea, is the place for cocktails at sunset or after dinner.
The pool bar serves coffee, refreshments and a wide selection of aperitifs, snacks, smoothies, fruit and ice creams. The beach bar is the place for a refreshment after sun-bathing or a cocktail at sunset.
Abi Spa
The spa is a refuge for the soul, which completes the cycle of well-being offered at the Abi d’Oru, enhanced by our inobtrusive yet attentive therapists.Four rooms, each named after their own characteristic Sardinian essences, are available for massages and cosmetic treatments for face and body.
Access to the spa, the relaxation area with Himalayan salt wall and the wet area – with a sauna, Turkish bath, sensory showers and an ice waterfall – is exclusively by reservation.Aromatic infusions of herbal teas are at your disposal in the relaxation area and by the outdoor pool, to ensure complete relaxation.
Beach and Activities
Marinella beach, one of the most beautiful in Sardinia, lies just beyond the garden, the pool and the natural pond. Its fine white sands meet a turquoise sea that shimmers into every imaginable shade of blue as it dissolves into the horizon.
A section of the beach is reserved for guests of the Abi d’Oru with loungers and umbrellas, this is also the most sheltered part of the shore on breezy days.
