Accomodation

Spacious and with easy access to the beach and the botanical pool, our ocean view rooms are found in the North Wing of the hotel on the ground and first floor. En-suite bathrooms and a beautiful balcony overlooking the Marine Park provide guests with the utmost comfort and luxury. The quiet grassy area in front of the rooms is a relaxing place to read and soak up the coastal sunshine.

Dining al fresco at the beach with a gentle breeze is one of life’s great pleasures. Hemingways Watamu offers signature menus focusing on fresh produce, cooked simply and served expertly.

Hemingways Watamu caters to everyone’s taste. In the main restaurant, breakfast options suit the super hungry, health-conscious, and continental preferences. For a mid-morning treat, guests can enjoy specialty coffees, cakes, and fine gelato at the Gede Coffee Gardens.

The Gede menu also includes delicious wraps, sandwiches, and sharing platters. Guests can savor grilled meats, seafood, and healthy salads, perfect for lunches and casual evenings.

In the evenings, the full white linen service à la carte restaurant offers flavorful options. Freshly caught seafood from the nearby ocean features prominently. For those who prefer land-based dishes, options include aged beef steaks and traditional favorites like Tandoori Chicken. A selection of pastas and vegetarian dishes is also available.

Spa & Wellness

The Hemingways Watamu spa is a natural extension of the property’s commitment to quality and personalized service. Sitting adjacent to the botanical pool in its own pavilion, the Spa offers guests the ideal hideaway to retreat for a few hours of ‘me time’.

Gym

Our energetic instructors are on hand seven days a week to put you through your paces. Fully air conditioned, the gym is equipped with a variety of cardio-vascular workout machines and a good selection of free and standing weights.

Tennis

We are fully equipped to kit you out with tennis gear. If the heat of the day is too intense for tennis, play early morning before a re-energising breakfast or after sunset under the floodlights.

Activities at Hemingways Watamu

For the more adventurous, spend a morning snorkeling over the coral reef, master kite-surfing, learn to dive, engage in scuba diving or take a sunset dhow cruise on Mida Creek. For wildlife-lovers there is deep sea fishing, humpback whale watching and the extraordinary Arabuko Sokoke Forest – the largest, most intact coastal forest in East Africa, home to some of Kenya’s rarest mammals, elephant, brilliant butterflies and saltwater mangroves.
