Le Meridien Maldives A Review

Le Meridien Maldives a Review

Le Meridien Maldives was my final stop in the Maldives, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. This resort is slightly more chilled out than both Emerald properties so if you like to relax and sip on a cocktail with the wind blowing through your hair this is the place to go.

The food here will blow you away, it was the best I had whilst I was out there. Every meal was just outstanding, I would recommend the All Inclusive, as prices can be expensive in the Maldives, so this is excellent value.

One aspect which I mention below I found extremely fascinating is their focus on sustainability through initiatives like the Hydroponic Garden, Coral Planting, In-House Marine Biologist and keeping the island totally natural.

Le Meridien is also fantastic for families as they have a brilliant kids club, multi bedroom accommodations and delicious food which everyone in the family will enjoy.

Outstanding Cuisine

The cuisine & food at Le Meridien Resort & Spa is most certainly something you will remember. There is great variety from wood fired pizzas in Velaa Bar & Grill, to fresh sushi in Tabemasu but what really stood out was the fresh ingredients from the on-island greenhouse. Nowhere else in the Maldives will you find vegetables and salad as fresh as the ones at Le Meridien.

I couldn’t praise the food enough here; every meal was delicious and the service to go with it was extremely efficient and friendly.

Focus on Sustainability

Le Meridien really have put a focus on sustainability since they opened. One of my favourite parts on island was the Greenhouse where they grow all their own salad and vegetables for use in the restaurants. They have an onsite marina biologist who can explain to guests all about the coral reef & seagrass meadows and she gives guests the chance to plant their own coral frame underwater.

Great Snorkelling/Diving

Surrounding the island are some lovely seagrass meadows that many other islands in the Maldives have removed. The Seagrass meadows attracts different species of fish and marine life such as Manta’s and rays. Outside of the seagrass meadows is a fantastic coral reef which surrounds the island, here you can snorkel or go on a diving excursion with the hotel.

You will find a plethora of fish and other sea creatures that will keep you snorkelling and diving for hours.

Whilst I was swimming over the seagrass meadows a manta ray about twice the size of me (I am 6ft2) came gently swimming underneath, this was a very cool experience and if you choose to go to Le Meridien hopefully you will be lucky enough to experience as well.

Multi Bedroom Accommodations

Le Meridien has a wide range of accommodation which will suit everyone. From one bedroom beach bungalows for couples to their fantastic three-bedroom family beach villa with a full-length pool & 10-person hot tub, it is a great place to come with just your other half or the whole family.

Couples will also love the overwater villas with glass bathrooms which look out right over the turquoise waters, these villas have some amazing spots to capture those once in a lifetime photos which will make everyone back home jealous!

Fantastic Kids Club

One of the aspects that really stood out for me was the fantastic kids club with both inside and outdoor areas. On the off chance it is raining the soft play areas and fantastic staff will keep your children entertained for hours. They have a extensive daily programme of activities which suits all ages so you can rest assured that your kids will be extremely well looked after.

Great Spa & Gym Facilities

My review of Le Meridien Maldives wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the brilliant spa and gym they have onsite. The Spa is overwater and from the treatment beds you look down through a glass window in the floor to the coral reef below. Whilst you are having your massage you can look at the fish on the sea floor below, it is a rather unique experience.

The Gym is one of the better hotel gyms I have seen with four squat racks and plenty of resistance machines. They have cardio equipment too so it is the perfect place to work up and appetite for dinner.

For those wanting some additional help the personal trainer is always on hand extremely knowledgeable.

Overview

If you are looking for a Maldives Holiday then Le Meridien Maldives is an ideal place to stay whether you are a couple or a family. The cuisine will blow you away, but we do recommend the All Inclusive as like all Maldives prices food and beverages are expensive.

There is a great selection of villas from one to three bedrooms, a fantastic kids club, great house reef and wonderful spa. This hotel does have it all for that dream Maldivian Holiday.
